Spring is finally here, and so is the Spring 2014 issue of VALPO Magazine! This issue takes a look back through the years at the mercurial climate at dear old Val-Pour-Rain-Snow and checks in with Valpo’s many distinguished meteorology alumni, including Good Morning America’s Ginger Zee '02.
The Christian Century featured Valpo's Lilly Fellows Program and former provost Mark R. Schwehn, Ph.D., whose book "Exiles from Eden" envisions an academic culture where teaching reaches across boundaries to communicate with others.
The Brauer Museum of Art offers a unique opportunity to view world-class art in Northwest Indiana. The summer exhibitions currently feature paintings by Tom Brand and Carole Stodder, paintings by Eleanor Lewis, and drawings and sculpture by Fred Frey.
Graduate students gain hands-on experience and learn about other cultures by teaching English to Chinese and Ecuadorian students who are on campus for the summer.
Professor Heath Carter recently joined the Young Scholars in American Religion Program, a highly selective group of historians in the United States who will discuss research and instruction of American religion.
A double major in Civil Engineering and Chinese and Japanese Studies, Aura Lee Harper-Smith ’15 has accepted a fellowship with the American Concrete Institution Foundation. Aura Lee recently studied in China through Valpo’s summer program and will complete an internship at a global engineering consulting and material science research and testing firm.
The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college at Valpo, home to 21 departments and more than two dozen interdisciplinary programs that engage students in the study of humanities, sciences, the arts, pre-professional studies, and social sciences.
