Each semester, Valparaiso University students find new ways to get involved around campus. One of the primary ways is through a flourishing arts program. The Arts at Valpo is open to students of all majors — from studio arts, theatre, and choir, to meteorology, engineering, and business.

Many students participate in The Arts through music. Valpo offers a wide variety of student ensembles, orchestras, bands, choirs, and the Chorale (one of the top Lutheran collegiate choirs in the United States), many of which offer a variety of travel opportunities. Visit Valpo Music Schedule to find out more about performances on campus and near you.

The featured event this spring is the Valparaiso University Symphony Orchestra with the Valparaiso University Chorale, Men's Choir, Women's Choir, and Bach Choir. It takes place on Saturday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Resurrection. Join us for this momentous concert and get your tickets soon.

Students interested in theatre can participate in one of five main stage productions each year, including one musical or opera and a dance ensemble demonstrating a variety of dance styles. Auditions are open to the entire student body. This year, Shakespeare's tragic play Macbeth will be performed.

In addition to performance space, the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts is also home to the Brauer Museum of Art. The Brauer Museum's permanent collection showcases many influential artists, including Georgia O'Keefe, Frederic Edwin Church, and Junius Sloan. The museum also features special exhibitions, including student work. Both the Brauer Museum and the Center for the Arts offer internships and student employment, providing opportunities to get involved on campus while gaining valuable work experience.

Students at Valpo can be involved in The Arts as performers or spectators, and with free admission to nearly all arts events on campus, students can express their artistic side as well as support their classmates. The events are open to students, faculty, staff, and community members, allowing all members of the Valpo community to come together and celebrate The Arts.
