Although the hectic holiday season is now over, faculty and staff around Valpo remain busy preparing campus for the spring semester as they greet new and returning students. This semester brings fresh opportunities, and as a learning community that prepares students to lead and serve around the world, leadership opportunities are abundant here at Valpo.

Fraternity and sorority life offers many distinct and enriching opportunities that enhance the student experience and provide friendships and memories. Fraternity and sorority life at Valpo places a great deal of emphasis on philanthropy, fundraising, and most importantly, leadership. During recruitment week, students interested in joining a fraternity or sorority organization get the chance to meet and spend time with members of each particular group before deciding which organization is the best fit for them.

Student Senate is also a great way for students to lead and serve while at Valpo. Twenty-five senators and seven executives work together to represent the student body. When Student Senate meets, the group discusses campus issues and allocates funds to student organizations.

University Programming Council (UPC) offers opportunities to organize trips for students to visit places like Chicago and Indianapolis for sporting events, concerts, musicals, museums, or shopping. UPC also invites noteworthy musicians, comedians, and guest speakers to campus; coordinates homecoming activities; and hosts a midnight brunch each semester before finals begin. Students involved with UPC employ unique skills to help organize some of the most memorable events on campus.

All of these opportunities give students an excellent chance to become leaders, engage in rewarding experiences, and work together as a community to make our campus an amazing place.
