Valpo Health Form:

Make sure you fill out the Valparaiso University Health Form, paying particular attention to the section on required immunizations, and return it as soon as possible. If you are not in compliance with the immunization regulations, you must obtain the immunizations at your own expense at Valparaiso University before you can register for classes.

Valparaiso’s International Student health insurance:

As an international student, you will automatically be enrolled in Valpo’s International Student health insurance plan unless you present proof of comparable coverage to the OIP and are permitted to waive out of the plan.

The insurance brochure in the admission packet describes the type of medical insurance that all international students are required to have. Because of the high cost of medical care in the US, you need to have insurance with at least:

• Medical benefits of at least $500,000 per accident or illness.
• Repatriation of remains in the amount of $7,500.
• Expenses associated with medical evacuation of the exchange visitor to his or her home country in the amount of $10,000.
• A deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness. If you have this kind of medical coverage from your country or sponsor, then you must show VU proof of that coverage. If not, you will be required to purchase the policy we sent you with the approximate cost of $1300.00 per year.
