For First-Year Students and Parents/Guardians:

The June FOCUS program is 1.5 days long for first-year students and their parents/guardians. Students and family members experience different schedules during FOCUS, but the start and end time of the program is the same for both groups. The day begins with check-in at 8:45 a.m. Central Standard Time on Day 1. Students spend their time preparing for class registration, learning their way around campus, discovering co-curricular opportunities, and getting to know each other. Family members learn about campus resources so they can help their student be successful throughout the school year.

Students, including those who intend to commute during the school year, stay overnight in a residence hall between Day 1 and Day 2 with activities occurring late into the night. Day 2 features additional resource information for family members while students handle academic advising and registration with our excellent advising team. The FOCUS experience ends after lunch on Day 2.

Transfer students are generally finished with their FOCUS experience by 4 p.m. on Day 1, though you are welcome to continue to participate in FOCUS activities occurring into the evening if you wish.
