Surprises

Last week, though it was hectic trying to study for my psychology test, it was full of nice surprises. The winter storm brought a lot of snow. The first day it hit all of the morning and early afternoon classes were still in session. Then, the late afternoon classes were cancelled. The next morning I sat by my computer to see if classes would be cancelled and they were. I was excited to know that I could use this time to get ahead on class work. Not only did this make my day, but my parents sent me flowers and a teddy bear for Valentine’s Day. It was so nice to receive these surprises. I think everyone enjoys getting packages and mail from home.
On Tuesday of this week, I played intramural volleyball. Even though, we did not win any games, it was great to be able to play and interact with other teams. I am definitely rusty and need to work on my skills, but despite that, I enjoyed playing.
Spring break is almost here. I can barely wait to go home. Unfortunately, I have three tests next week. This weekend will be dedicated to studying, but it is worth knowing that I will be home soon.

4 Tests

I made it through last week with all of my tests. It was such a big relief when I took the last one. It was a boring week, because all I did was study.
I cannot remember if I talked about the Super Bowl. House council decided to throw a Super Bowl party. I think most of the house councils on campus had a celebration. In our dorm, the whole lounge was packed with people. We ordered around twenty five pizzas, and most of them where gone in about an hour. The party was a great way to bring residents together.
Last week was not my exciting week. We have a winter storm warning in effect for tonight and tomorrow. Maybe this week will be more exciting with the blizzard coming.

Cold

It has been a busy week, as I have just completed one out of my four tests in a week’s time. Nothing new has really happened, since the last time I wrote. Like always, I am keeping busy with school. Classes are much harder this semester, but I understand that they are meant to be.
It has been so cold this week. Every time the wind hits my face, I shiver. This weekend the temperature is supposed to be in the single digits with a wind chill below zero.
I went to Campus Crusades on Monday. It was nice to see people I knew and get to know them better. Plus, it was nice to fellowship with other believers.

Newness

It seems like it has been snowing everyday here, but it is so beautiful outside. I had an opportunity to enjoy the cold, as I went ice skating this weekend. After meeting a girl in my psychology class, she invited me to go with her and her friends to ice skate. We had a great time, despite the fact that the skates were very uncomfortable.
Classes are going well. I am still getting used to my classes, my professors, and my new schedule. I am also getting used to the fact that I do not have a roommate this semester. It is different not having someone in the room with me, but it has its negatives and positives.

Back to School

Well, school resumed last Wednesday. I am still working on adjusting to my new schedule. It will be interesting to have a full week of classes and get back into the swing of things. I have moved up to the executive board for house council. I think this will be a good position to assume. My job is to help our dorm plan more activities to continue to promote community.
Christmas break was so relaxing. I definitely needed a long break to get ready for this semester. I had a hard time coming back to school, because this was the longest break this year. I had just gotten back into my normal routine at home, and then, it was time for school to start again.
Here is a picture of me going to a Christmas party.

Exam Week

Exam week has finally arrived. I had my first exam today in accounting. The test was more challenging than the other tests in that class, which the professor said was his intention. Tomorrow, I have my Core exam. I am not too worried about that exam. I cannot wait till this week is over and classes will be done with for a while.
I am excited about next semester. I know it will be harder, but it is always nice to have different classes and meet new people. Unfortunately, my roommate will probably be moving to another dorm next semester. She has decided that she wants to take a vacant RA position. I have decided to try and get a new roommate. I don't know anyone that is looking for a new one. We'll see what happens.
I am going home in a few days! This is so exciting!

Dorm Life

This has been a crazy week. Sometimes, it is very easy to get tired of dorm life. Do not get me wrong. Dorm life can be fun, but at times, I miss being at home. I miss my own room, bathroom, and a home cooked meal. This week we had sewage leak into our shower. We also had our water turned off on another day, because a main water line broke. Today, we lost our electricity for a little while.
It is almost finals week. It seems like so many people are sick. In class, I was sitting next to two sick people. My roommate was sick for a couple of days too. Hopefully, I will not catch anything. I want to get through finals and all of the assignments that are due this Friday without worry about not feeling well.
I went to a basketball game last week. Valpo was playing Butler. It seemed like every one was there. The gym was packed. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera. I did not stay for the whole game, because we were not doing very well. It was fun anyways.

Fun in the Sun

The week before Thanksgiving break I finished all of my homework that was due. Then, I relaxed for the rest of the week. It can be so hard to remain focused when I know that I am going home for break. It was wonderful to go home. I saw many people I knew and was able to spend more time with them. My highlight of the week was spending time with my parents and friend from my old school. I had a great time and was able to take a break from school. I have to admit that I worked on some homework. Here are some pictures from my trip to Lion Country Safari in Florida. My family and my friend went with me to see the park.

Classes

This week’s focus was on registering for classes, which can be a big deal. Being a transfer student made this process more stressful, because I have to take certain classes so that I can graduate in 2009. I met with my advisor on Monday to go over the different classes that I need to take for the next three years. Then, it was time for me to do my homework and create a schedule for spring semester. I was very thankful that I went to the training session, which showed you how to register for classes online. I thought that registering for classes would be very easy, but it was not as easy as I thought it would be. One of the classes that I wanted to take was full by the time I was able to register. Also, I did not realize that some of my classes had restrictions. I spent about three hours on Thursday searching for the right signatures that I needed for classes and talking to the registrar about my schedule. Finally, I got my schedule set for spring semester, which is a big relief.
Also, this week I thought that I would start decorating for Christmas. When I get back from Thanksgiving break, there will only be two weeks left until Christmas break. So, I decorated a Christmas tree in my dorm room. Now, I am in the mood for Christmas and I cannot wait to go home for break.

A Blur

I am so thankful that this and last week are over. I am also glad that I finished all four of my tests this week. I feel like I can relax a little more, even though I still have a lot to do. The past week has been a blur, because all I did was sleep, study, read, and eat. At least, this weekend I can enjoy not having to study for any tests!
Next week, I will meet with my advisor to see what classes I need to register for. Then on Thursday at my designated time, I have to register for spring semster online. This is exciting, because I get to try different classes and have a new schedule.
It has been cold up here. The temperature varies from forty to twenty some degrees. The trees all had leaves on them not too long ago, but now they are almost gone. I am looking forward to going home for Thanksgiving break, which is only two weeks ago. Then, I get to enjoy some of the hot weather and beautiful sunshine in Florida.
