Change
The thought of transferring to another school has been exciting and adventurous, yet there is always the feeling of nervousness and fear at the thought of starting over again. On the other hand, change has to occur sometime. I have realized that you cannot always stay in your comfort zone forever. The thought of leaving my friends, church, and family in Florida was difficult, but by leaving familiarities, you beging to grow and learn more about yourself and your abilities.
My transition from Palm Beach Atlantic University, 30 minutes from my house to 20 hours away, has not been as difficult as I thought it was going to be. Having a roommate who is quite friendly and welcoming has helped much. Also, the staff has been extremely helpful in providing me with answers to my questions and concerns. I must confess that despite the welcoming affection of people at Valpo, I have been stressed. With the conflicts and missing classes from my schedule to moving in and trying to create a place that I will call home for this year, has already taught my about the difficulties of becoming more independent and starting over again. Somehow with all of these hurdles that I have had to conquer the past couple of days, I have learned that change is good and the stress of something like a wrong class schedule can and will be overcome. It is from small and big hurdles like these that change and lessons are learned.
