On Sunday, the Valparaiso University Alumni Association welcomed nearly 700 new alumni as they celebrated their commencement in the Athletics-Recreation Center. More than 550 undergraduates walked across the stage, along with 135 graduate students. Law students will commence on Saturday.

On Friday, May 17, the Valparaiso University Alumni Association honored 11 students with the Distinguished Student Award. A luncheon was held in the Harre Union Ballroom, where President Mark A. Heckler personally congratulated each student, and the deans of the colleges spoke about each recipient's accomplishments. Jennifer Campbell, member of the Valparaiso University Alumni Association Board of Directors, served as host and emcee.

The Crusader men’s golf team posted a team score of 310 in Saturday’s final round of the NCAA Columbus Regional at The Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio.
Valparaiso finished its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 13th place with a three-day total of 927. No. 5 New Mexico won the overall championship.

The Valparaiso softball team earned its first NCAA Tournament victory in program history Saturday afternoon, defeating Central Michigan 7-4 in an elimination game in Ann Arbor, Mich. By virtue of the win, the Crusaders lived to play another elimination game, but Valpo fell in the final game of the day to #18/22 California 6-0, as Jolene Henderson tossed a no-hitter.
