Alumni Community Service Award
honors alumni who have enhanced the prestige of the University by virtue of their character and integrity through outstanding service in their community.
Ann (Hintz ’81) Rehbein earned
her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981, and went on to receive her certificate in spiritual direction
from Mercy Center
in California. She first served as a deaconess intern
in 1979 at Grace Lutheran
Church in El
Centro, Calif. and is currently
a deaconess at St. Andrews Lutheran
Church in Stockton,
Calif. She has been a member of the Lutheran
Deaconess Conference since 1981. She
recently traveled on a mission trip to support and encourage teenage mothers in
Ghana. She also has stayed involved with Valparaiso University by participating in the Valpo spring break medical
service trips for the past six years. The Rehbeins are the parents
of four children, two of whom have graduated from Valpo.
