Ginger “Zee” Zuidgeest ’02 earned her Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from Valparaiso University. Ginger started her career with WLAV as an on-air meteorologist and then worked as a meteorologist/reporter with WEYI – NBC25 in Michigan. She then became a meteorologist/reporter in Chicago with NBC 5 and the Today show for five years. Ginger received a Regional Emmy for Best Weathercast in 2007 and 2008. While working in Chicago, she referenced Valparaiso whenever possible in her telecasts. Ginger has since been promoted as a national meteorologist with ABC’s Good Morning America in New York City. Prior to moving to New York, Ginger was an adjunct professor in Valpo’s communication department, teaching weathercasting and advanced weathercasting. She has been a wonderful ambassador for Valpo’s Meteorology department and the University. Ginger has served Valpo by advising students on weathercasting careers, critiquing their resume tapes, and meeting with alumni interested in weathercasting. She also enjoys connecting with students in both elementary and high schools to share her enthusiasm for meteorology. She has been featured on various billboards in the Valpo or NW Indiana area to promote “I’m a Valpo Grad.” Ginger lives in New York City.
