Valparaiso University’s Kallay-Christopher Hall has won an Honor Award for excellence in architectural design in the Design Awards competition sponsored by the American Institute of Architects’ Northern Indiana chapter.

The building, which houses Valpo’s department of geography and meteorology, was cited for offering wall-to-wall views of the northern skies, a rooftop weather observation deck and other architectural elements.

A jury composed of professional architects selected award recipients.

Last year, Kallay-Christopher Hall was named a “Project of Distinction” in the 8th annual Education Design Showcase competition sponsored by College Planning and Management magazine.

Design Organization Inc. of Valparaiso served as architect for the 16,830-square-foot facility, dedicated in 2005. More information about the facility is available at valpo.edu/facilities/kallay-christopher.
