Torch Newspaper Again Indiana’s Best

Valparaiso University’s student newspaper, The Torch, has been named Indiana Division II Newspaper School of the Year for the second consecutive year by the Indiana Collegiate Press Association.

The Torch and its staff won 27 awards at the ICPA’s annual convention, including nine first-place awards, 13 second-place awards and five third-place awards for writing, photography and design.

The paper took both the first and second place awards in the best single issue category. It also won top honors for Best Overall Design, second place for Best Special Issue and third place for Best Stand-Alone/Pullout Section. Several students also received individual awards.
