“Both the law school and the M.B.A. program prepared me for this position,” said Gonzales, who earned a joint master of business administration and law degree from Valpo. “[The School of Law’s] excellent legal writing program helped me develop strong foundational skills in legal writing.

“The M.B.A. program prepared me to analyze complex business situations. The skills that I learned in the M.B.A. program have helped me on several cases thus far. The foundational skills have allowed me to better understand some of the complex frauds being committed.”

The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit enforces Indiana health care laws by policing Medicaid providers, recipients of Medicaid funds and facilities that provide care for Medicaid patients.

Gonzales took his oath of office in the Valparaiso University School of Law’s Stride Court Room.

“It was a wonderful experience to be sworn in on the Valparaiso campus,” he said. “I am quite excited to be a deputy attorney general. I really enjoy working in the Medicaid Fraud section, and I already have learned so much.”
