Alumni Celebrate Four Decades of CC at Homecoming Symposium
Graduates from each of the four decades since Christ College’s founding came home to speak at CC’s 2007 40th Anniversary Homecoming Symposium.
David Schreiber ’77, lead pastor at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Indianapolis, recalled student life in the college’s first decade and encouraged current students to keep following their passions.
Jane Knetzger ’84, now director of development for history at Bedford/St. Martin’s Press, Boston, told the symposium audience, “I value the combination I experienced at CC of first-rate intellectual rigor within a context of respect for religion as a legitimate venue for meaning-making. In this era of rising Islamic fundamentalism and domestic culture wars, understanding—and respecting—religion as a basic human impulse is critical.”

Vanessa Burrows ’01, a legislative attorney with Congressional Research Service, Washington, D.C., believes Christ College helped her to articulate her goals in terms of vocation, rather than job.
“CC improved my writing, but more importantly, it emphasized service to others and a love of scholarship,” she said.
