Fundraising Advances for Addition to Gellersen Center

Some $7.5 million has been raised to date toward an addition to the south side of Gellersen Center that will provide needed room for senior design projects, multidisciplinary design projects, regional and national design competitions, and other projects.

The addition, which has a total construction cost currently estimated at $8 million, will be the first facility in the history of Valparaiso University to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

“Valpo engineering students and faculty are increasingly recognized nationally for their accomplishments, yet they need the support of an adequate facility to continue to accomplish their good work,” said College of Engineering Dean Kraig Olejniczak ’87 EE.

“I want to thank all the alumni and friends who have supported this effort, and I encourage others to become involved as well. We have seen much success in fundraising to date, but there is more work to be done to meet the goal. The success depends on the generosity and vision of our alumni and friends.”

The project is one of the priorities targeted in the “Our Valpo, Our Time, 150th Anniversary Initiative,” which aims to enhance the student experience.
