College of Nursing to Host 40th Anniversary Gala
The College of Nursing will celebrate its 40th anniversary in artful fashion next year with a gala event at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The black-tie affair is slated for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009.
“During the past 40 years, the College of Nursing has continued to honor the mission of graduating nurses who are excellently prepared to meet the health care needs of individuals, families and communities,” says Dean Janet Brown.
“We never have wavered from our goal of excellence. Valpo graduates always have been recognized for their ability to think critically and make clinical decisions.”
The theme for the gala is “Nursing is the Artful Use of Science.” The art of improvisation also will be on display, with actors from Second City providing the entertainment for the evening.
The event takes place during Valparaiso University’s yearlong 150th anniversary celebration.
“The College of Nursing is dynamic and innovative,” Brown says. “It seems only fitting that we celebrate our heritage as we also celebrate the 150th anniversary of the university. Not only are we honoring all the accomplishments of our alumni, we are recommitting to another 40 years of excellence in nursing education.”
