Valpo in Chicago 

It is a monumental year in the history of Valparaiso University, and as the sparkling lights of holiday festivities illuminate downtown Chicago, so will a weekend-long commemoration of the university’s sesquicentennial. Come take part in this once-in-a-lifetime celebration and make memories to last another 150 years.

HOTEL INFORMATION

The Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe St., is offering a special Valpo rate of $129 per night for singles and doubles, $154 per night for triples, and $179 per night for quads. This newly-restored hotel is two and one-half miles from the United Center and is located in the heart of the Chicago Loop, with Michigan Avenue and State Street just outside the door of the hotel. Call 877.865.5321 to make reservations for the Valparaiso University group rate. Provide the reservation code VAL. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. 

 

SATURDAY, DEC. 20

Men’s Basketball Game - Valparaiso University vs. University of North Carolina
1 p.m.
United Center, 1901 W. Madison St.

The Crusaders will take on the Tarheels at the home of the Chicago Bulls. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ticket prices are $150 and $100 for courtside seats; $50 and $35 for 100-level seats; and $35 and $25 for 200-level seats. Student section tickets are $15 each and are located behind the basket. Student section tickets are on sale at the Athletics-Recreation Center only. Basketball tickets will be available on campus and through this brochure until Friday, Dec. 5, or until sold out.
Parking at the United Center ranges from $15 to $30. Handicap parking is available in the south half of Lot G off of Damen Avenue. Lots close immediately following the game.
Please note: Season ticket holders will receive tickets to the game as part of their season package and will be seated at the 100-level.

The Chicago Celebration of VU’s 150th Anniversary
Immediately following the game until 6 p.m.

Celebrate VU’s 150th anniversary at this post-game gathering catered by Polo Cafe and Catering, Bridgeport U.S.A. and chef Dave Samber ’72.
Join fellow alumni, parents, Crusader fans and friends for food and beverages following the game and enjoy a visit from Coach Homer Drew and the team. Meet President Mark Heckler and his wife, Veronica, and be entertained by a musical ensemble of Valpo students. Cash bar available.
Advance registration is required. Tickets are $25 per adult and $15 per child (10 and younger). Carmichael’s is located approximately one mile east of the United Center. Parking is available in the Carmichael’s lot or on the street. Sponsored by the VU Alumni Association.

Enjoy a delicious assortment of breakfast items and entrees complemented with fruit, pastries, juices, coffee, and champagne. Entertainment provided by Billy Foster, member of the VU Faculty Jazz Trio and adjunct instructor in music. Advance registration is required. Tickets are $40 each.
