Art Faculty Exhibition


VALPARAISO, Ind. – Valparaiso University art faculty members are presenting their recent works of art in the upcoming Valpo Art Faculty Exhibition at Brauer Museum of Art.

The exhibition features approximately 30 works of art in a variety of media and is on display March 31 through May 9. An opening reception with the seven participating artists will take place April 9 at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. During the reception, artists will comment upon the inspiration leading to creation of the works they each selected.

The show includes works in
media including painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture that demonstrate the many approaches to art that faculty members consider in their studios and classrooms.

Participating in the exhibition are Robert Sirko, associate professor of art; Aimee Tomasek, assistant professor of art; Sarah Jantzi, assistant professor of art; Kevin Firme, adjunct assistant professor of art; Michele Corazzo, adjunct assistant professor of art; Elizabeth Wuerffel, adjunct assistant professor of art; and Gregg Hertzlieb, director of the Brauer Museum of Art.

Wuerffel will present a special performance art exhibit in which she will cut hair in a small salon-like environment in the museum’s West Gallery during the showcase. She will perform at the opening reception and on April 14, 21, 23, 28 and May 5 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m..

The Brauer Museum of Art is located on Valpo’s campus in the Center for the Arts. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and closed Monday. Admission to the gallery is free.
