Frankenmuth Weekend Set for July 18-19

The 11th annual Frankenmuth, Mich., Valpo Weekend is scheduled for July 18 and 19.

And, in keeping with tradition, the weekend will feature a golf outing at The Fortress, with proceeds going to Valpo Athletics.

The weekend has helped raise more than $100,000 for the athletics department in the previous 10 years.

"Over the years, this has really become a family-oriented event," says organizer and former Valpo baseball player John Shelton '80.

The weekend begins Friday, July 18, with a dessert buffet and cocktail party. On Saturday, July 19, breakfast is followed by the golf outing and a dinner program.

"It's become an excellent friend-raising event as much as it is a fund-raising event," Valpo Director of Athletics Mark LaBarbera says.
