Marsicek, Wilson Earn Victories at Outdoor Championships

Emilie Marsicek (Spalding, Mich./Carney-Nadeau) set a new school and Horizon League record en route to victory in the shot put, while Melanie Wilson (Saint Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) took top honors in the 100m hurdles as the Valparaiso women’s track and field team finished third in its first-ever Outdoor Championships Friday in Youngstown, Ohio.  Marsicek was named the league’s Outstanding Field Performer after finishing the meet with two event victories....full story

Another School Record Falls as Crusaders Close Out Horizon League Outdoor Championships

Philip Lohrmann (Battle Ground, Wash./Battle Ground [Clark C.C.]) set a new school record in the pole vault Friday in Youngstown, Ohio as the Valparaiso men’s track and field team concluded the Horizon League Outdoor Championships in seventh place.  Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) was named the Championships’ Outstanding Field Performer, replicating his honor from the Indoor Championships, after winning both the discus throw and hammer throw Thursday....full story

Three Event Victories Put Valpo in Second Place After Day One of Horizon League Championships

Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) set a school and Horizon League Championship record in the hammer throw Thursday and also won the discus throw, while Chris Honig (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South [Indiana]) crossed the line first in the 3,000m steeplechase as the Valparaiso men’s track and field team competed on day one of the Horizon League Outdoor Championships in Youngstown, Ohio....full story
