Valpo Suffers Rough Opening Day at Rocket Hidden Duals

Valparaiso kicked off the Rocket Hidden Duals on Friday with one singles victory and two doubles wins on the opening day of competition in Toledo, Ohio.

Rachel Janssen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) was the lone Crusader to win a singles match, doing so at the top spot of the A flight against Toledo with her 6-4, 6-4 result against Martina Wodzinski.

She also teamed with Kate Evangelist (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) for an 8-6 win at the top spot against Detroit in doubles play. Valpo's duo of Jenny Schwartz (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora H.S.) and Lindsay Gustafson (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) also won by the same score against the Titans at the third spot.

Valparaiso will conclude tournament play on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. CDT on the campus of the University of Toledo.
