Billstrom Earns Mid-Con Weekly Honor

The Mid-Continent Conference named Ashley Billstrom (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) its Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week today after her outstanding performance in the 3,000m steeplechase last Friday at the Hillsdale Gina Relays.

Billstrom bested a field of 52 other runners, crossing the line with a time of 10:40.38, breaking her own school record by better than 10 seconds and finishing 18 seconds clear of the second-place runner. The senior's time also surpassed the NCAA Regional qualifying standard by more than nine seconds. Billstrom broke the meet record by two seconds, and her time ranks as the fastest in the Mid-Con and fifth-fastest in the NCAA Mideast Region this season.
