Carrie Harpring joined the Valparaiso University athletic training staff in August, 2007. She will be responsible for the day-to-day injury treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of Valpo’s athletes. She will work directly with the women’s soccer team as well as the Crusader track and field programs. Harpring spent two years as a head athletic trainer in high schools. During the 2006-2007 school year, she worked at Santa Fe High School in Alachura, Florida where she worked with athletes in a variety of sports including football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball. Prior to Santa Fe, she was the head athletic trainer at Loften High School in Gainesville, Florida. She supervised the undergraduate athletic training students at both locations and also has experience coordinating outside medical referrals and managing yearly supplies and budgets. Harpring is a 2005 graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. with her bachelor’s degree in sports medicine. She recently completed her master’s degree at the University of Florida in applied physiology and kinesiology.
