Academic Support

Biology courses at Valpo are demanding, but the department wants every student to succeed. In addition to professor office hours and department-sponsored help sessions, students can take advantage of free resources through Valpo’s Academic Success Center.

Supplemental Instruction

Several times a week, experienced biology students lead group review sessions for all students enrolled in:

• BIO 151: Human Anatomy & Physiology I
• BIO 152: Human Anatomy & Physiology II
• BIO 171: Unity of Life
• BIO 172: Diversity of Life

The Academic Success Center maintains a calendar of all supplemental instruction sessions for biology courses.

Peer Tutoring

Students who have attended Supplemental Instruction sessions and find that they need more focused help can apply for the Peer Tutoring Program. This student-tutor match program provides weekly tutoring sessions in a small-group setting. Peer tutoring is available to students enrolled in:

• BIO 125: Biotechnology
• BIO 151: Human Anatomy & Physiology I
• BIO 152: Human Anatomy & Physiology II
• BIO 171: Unity of Life
• BIO 172: Diversity of Life
