Title: Seasonal State Worker Location: Laporte Salary/Pay: $11.25 per hour Company: INDOT Description: Summer Seasonal positions working in the Construction Department during the period of May 1 through November 30, within the LaPorte District which includes the following 6 Sub districts: LaPorte, Monticello, Plymouth, Rensselaer, Winamac and Gary. Operates basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment and performs general highway maintenance duties. These vary by season. Constructs, maintains, repairs and cleans highways and/or roadways and right-of-ways to include excavating and grading ditches, digging channels and cleaning waterways; cuts brush, grass and other vegetation; applies chemicals to vegetation; patches and seals shoulders and pavement; mixes materials for concrete; shovels backfill; installs and repairs drainage structures and completes other drainage work; reshapes/digs ditches/trenches; places hot asphalt materials in pavement cracks; removes trash, mows grass, moves and loads supplies and materials and completes other related highway construction/maintenance assignments. Operates any combination of basic equipment to haul trash; dump truck with attachments; maintains, repairs and installs traffic signs and pavement markings on interstate, federal and state highways and/or roadways (e.g., repairs, replaces and/or straightens street and traffic signs and other highway route markers); installs and repairs guardrails.
