Neal P. Christiansen ‘77
Assistant Professor and Fellowship Director · Medical University of South Carolina 

Dr. Christiansen earned his biology and chemistry degrees from Valparaiso University in 1977.  In 1981 he graduated 
from Washington University School of Medicine.  His residency was completed at Michael Reese Hospital and fellowship
at University of Minnesota Medical School.  Specializing in medical oncology, he now serves as an Assistant Professor and
Fellowship Director at the Medical University of South Carolina.   

In addition, Dr. Christiansen is the president of the South Carolina Oncology Society, on the senate for the Medical University
of South Carolina, and a member of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. 
An active member of Lutheran churches in the cities he has lived, Dr. Christiansen has been on various church councils and a
past member of the LCMS Eastern District Ministerial Health Committee

Neal and his wife, Rev. Anne Christiansen are proud parents of twins Elizabeth and Eric. Along with Anne (Valpo ’78) Neal's family embraces
a strong commitment to Valpo, including siblings and nieces who have also followed in the family tradition.
