The College of Arts and Sciences offers nine Interdisciplinary
Programs of study which students may pursue instead of the major
options outlined above. These programs are coordinated by special
administrative committees composed of faculty members drawn together
by their interest in a particular subject not defined by boundaries
of the traditional academic disciplines. Interdisciplinary Programs
are currently offered in American Studies, Broadcast Meteorology,
Chinese and Japanese Studies, Environmental Science, International
Economics and Cultural Affairs, International Service, and complementary
majors in Modern European Studies and Pre-Seminary Studies.
A departmental second major, a complementary major, or departmental
minor may be added to the Interdisciplinary Programs with approval
of the Dean's office.
In addition, minors in Interdisciplinary Programs in American Studies,
Applied Statistics, Bioethics, Business Administration, Chinese
and Japanese Studies, Environmental Studies, Ethnic Studies, Film
Studies, Gender Studies, Human Aging, Liberal Arts Business, and
Political Communication may be added to departmental majors.
