November 15 - Solicit nominations for the award.

January 15 - Last day to submit nominations to college dean.

February 15 - Finalist names received by CELT.

March 15 - Responses to questions due from nominees to CELT. 

May 1 - CELT selects finalist and forwards name of award recipient to the Office of the Provost. 

Reading Day (May) - Reception honors all finalists and announces award recipient.

August - May - Award recipient works with CELT to arrange activities which promote excellence in teaching on VU campus.

December Commencement - Award presented to recipient at Commencement.

August 15 - Award recipient provides a written report outlining use of Caterpillar funds and submits report to CELT and the Office of the Provost.
