WRC '10 KICKS OFF FEB. 5

The 2010 World Relief Campaign kicks off the weekend of Feb. 5, 2010 with a Friday night coffeehouse fundraiser.

Every year for the past two decades SALT (the Social Action Leadership Team of the Chapel) has selected a specific project in need of funding and has organized a fund raising campaign around it known as the World Relief Campaign. “Casas for Kids: From House to Hope” will benefit children in the village of Los Angeles on Ometepe Island in Nicaragua.  SALT will fund the construction of a house to be used as a foster home for four to five children at a time in the village of Los Angeles.  And in the years to come, the foster home will provide a home for many generations of children and will create a lasting positive impact of the area and its children.  SALT will be working in cooperation with Praxis Center and CICRIN Orphanage in Los Angeles to carry out this fund raising campaign and educate the Valparaiso community about the impact that a consistent and loving home can have on a growing child.

Kick-off weekend:
Kick off events include a Coffeehouse in the Campus Café from 8-10 p.m. Feb. 5 as well as the 10 a.m. worship service at the Chapel on Sunday, Feb. 7, where members of SALT will be involved as readers, etc.

Beyond Kick-off Weekend:
Campus organizations are encouraged to plan fund raising events or partner with SALT in hosting an event to raise awareness and donations.  SALT also invites you to keep this worthy cause in your thoughts and prayers. For more information, please contact WRC Chair abby.lange@valpo.edu.
