- Reserve seating for Advent Christmas Vespers
The Chapel's annual Advent Christmas Vespers will be presented Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Assured seating passes are required for admission.
As of Dec. 4, there are currently no seating passes remaining for the 7 p.m. Vespers; to be added to the waiting list, please call Chris at (219) 464-5093 ext. 6 or email chris.boshoven@valpo.edu. Assured seating passes for the 10 p.m. service can be picked up in person at the Chapel or requested by phone at (219) 464-5093 ext. 6 or via email to chris.boshoven@valpo.edu.
The annual service of readings and music is a traditional part of Advent celebrations on campus. Students can earn one 5th hour CORE credit by attending.
This year’s Vespers will feature:
- Three newly commissioned works for handbell and choral ensembles
- The Kantorei Choir of the Chapel of the Resurrection, the University Handbell Choir, and – at the 7 p.m. Vespers only – the Jubilate (children's) Choir of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Valparaiso
- The photographs of Aimee Tomasek, Assistant Professor of Art
Organists for the services are Dr. Lorraine Brugh and Dr. Joseph Bognar.
A reception, sponsored by the Thrivent Community Board - Greater Valparaiso Group, will be held at the Community Room of the Christopher Center, adjacent to the Chapel, between the 7 and 10 p.m. services. All are welcome.
As always, Advent-Christmas Vespers admission is free, but the Chapel invites attendees to make a gift supporting the Chapel’s ministries, including student leadership development, spring break service trips, and new student outreach.
