Funeral services for Pastor Darlene Grega will be Tuesday, April 13, at 11 a.m. (EST) at Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4470 Ridge Road, Brooklyn, Ohio. Visitation will take place Monday, April 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. EST at Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH 44129.
A 56-passenger bus is being chartered to leave from VU to Ohio at 4 a.m. Tuesday for students wishing to attend Pastor Grega's funeral. Students who did not reserve a spot earlier are still invited to come along. Be at the Chapel at 3:45 a.m. Students are responsible for making their own arrangements to be excused from any classes or other commitments.
A memorial service for Pastor Grega also will be held in the Chapel of the Resurrection Saturday, April 17, at noon CST. Bishop James Stuck of the ELCA’s Indiana-Kentucky Synod will lead the service and Dr. Fred Niedner will preach. For those attending the memorial service, parking is being reserved for Lot 20 (the large lot off from US 30 south of the Christopher Center) and Lots 14 and 15, south of the softball field and tennis courts. There is also limited handicapped parking directly outside the Chapel.
Condolences and cards can be sent to Pastor Darlene's son Nathan via Facebook under Nathan Grega or sent to his grandparents' home at 6107 Renwood Drive, Parma OH 44129.
Memorials may be offered to Lutheran World Relief or to Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church. In addition, those wishing to contribute to a special fund for her son and for flowers for her memorial service at VU may make a check payable to Valparaiso University with "Pastor Darlene memorial" in the memo and send to the Chapel c/o Sri Frazee, 1600 Chapel Drive, Valparaiso IN 46383.
