The Chapel of the Resurrection is changing the time of worship on Sunday mornings and eliminating a service at the start of the 2009-2010 school year.
Beginning on Welcome Sunday, Aug. 23rd, worship at the Chapel moves from 10:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Also beginning on that date, the 8:30 a.m. service in Gloria Christi will be eliminated.
The early service has drawn relatively few students. Community members who have favored the 10:30 service will be invited to be a part of 10 a.m. worship at the Chapel.
Going to a single Sunday morning service will be better stewardship of student workers’ time for setting up and will ensure that choirs have adequate warm-up time before worship.
Another change being put into place is in line with the Chapel’s on-going efforts to “go green.”
As of summer 2009, the Chapel is no longer printing a service folder for each week’s Sunday worship services. Rather, there will be a single service folder for each season of the church year. Worshipers are asked to return the folder for its re-use the following Sunday. The information that changes from week to week – such as the hymns, readings and special music – will be printed on a smaller single-page insert as an aid to worshipers.
This move is expected to help trim almost $10,000 from the Chapel’s budget this year.
