The Chapel will be the site of several concerts in the coming weeks as Christmas approaches.
Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 will be the 2009 Valparaiso University Christmas Concert, a seasonal celebration which will feature classic Christmas carols. Performing groups will include Valparaiso University Chorale, conducted by Christopher M. Cock, Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dennis Friesen-Carper, Chamber Concert Band conducted by Jeffrey Scott Doebler, Women’s Choir conducted by Maura Janton Cock and Men’s Choir conducted by Christopher M. Cock. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and at 5 p.m. Dec. 5. Admission is free for VU staff and students; $15 for other adults.
Dec. 11 at 7 and 10 p.m. is the Chapel’s annual Advent-Christmas Vespers. The service features music by the Kantorei, conducted by Lorraine Brugh, along with the Intermediate and Advanced Handbell choirs. Admission is free with a seating card, available from the Chapel.
The Chapel’s Intermediate and Advanced Handbell choirs, conducted by Brooke Davisson, Jonathan Rudy and Andrew Robinson, will give their Handbell Christmas Concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in the Gloria Christi Chapel. That same evening, members of the Gospel Choir under the direction of Brytish Thomas will present their Winter Concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Union, Ballrooms B & C.
