MLK Sunday, Jan. 16th, 2011, at the Chapel will include the music of the Valparaiso University Gospel Choir – and you can still join this choir while earning general studies credit for the spring semester.
Gospel choir has existed for over 12 years on campus and is open to the entire campus community. The choir provides students a practical experience in mixed voice singing of accompanied and unaccompanied vocal gospel music. Brytish Thomas, who directs the choir, says Gospel Choir is “more than a class; it is a worship ministry where believers gather to give of their time and talents and receive God’s blessings.”

The university’s Jan. 17 Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation at the Chapel will feature speaker Luma Mufleh, inspirational coach and founder of the Fugees Soccer Team, comprised of youths rescued from war-torn nations. The convocation begins at 10 a.m. at the chapel. There are no classes or Morning Prayer that day. Please take time to attend as many MLK events as you can, including SALT’s screening of the movie “Little Town of Bethlehem,” during one of the focus sessions Monday (1:15 and at 2:30 p.m.) More information about MLK events can be found online at www.valpo.edu/mlk
