Calling all praise band musicians

Love praise music? Want to learn more about leading worship? A free workshop for anyone interested in praise band music will be offered at the Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Campus Ministries is sponsoring the workshop which will feature Joel Wetzstein and Adam Countryman. If you're interested in being a part of it, call or text University Pastor James Wetzstein at 219.405-0630.

Also on Friday night, Aug. 31, Joel and Adam and guest musicians from on campus will offer a free concert at 9 p.m. at the Chapel, as the opening of Late Nite at the Chapel

Joel Wetzstein has been the Programming Director of Worship Arts for Salem Lutheran Church since leaving the founding team at CrossPoint Community Church with Bill Woolsey in 2005.  With a vision to train leaders and inspire their churches, Joel serves on the Core Team of the Worship Arts Leadership Institute - WALi - www.walionline.com.  You can find Joel on Facebook and frequently at Starbucks. Adam is also involved in  WALi. He serves at River Point, Sugar Land, TX.

Joel is currently serving as the Integrated Communications Director at Salem Lutheran Church, a 165 year-old church in Tomball, Texas – a PLI mentor congregation. Prior to his current role at Salem, he was the Programming Director of Worship Arts.  In a big move to consolidate teams, he became the Director of Worship & Integrated Communications – joining the separate teams focusing on Worship / Production / IT / Communications teams into one team.

He has spent significant time on staff teams of two (2) growing and dynamic churches… creating a new culture in one and being a change agent in another.  He can see the challenges our church is facing through the eyes of an experienced church leader – serving on the inside – with experience across the spectrum.

His desire is to help Lutheran churches achieve the mission God has placed before them.

It is his PASSION to help churches around the country re-discover their passion as the church and live out a newly focused vision to work WITH God to reach His people.

Adam Countryman has played in Youth Gatherings and synodical events since 1995. He served and consulted churches in the St. Louis area, where he grew up, until 2000 when he moved to Boston, MA. There Adam studied at Berklee College of Music and majored in Professional Music with and emphasis in Contemporary Writing and Production. Based out of Boston and Nashville he toured with regional country acts and worship events around the country. Adam has years of experience in recording in studios in Los Angeles and New York city as well as his current state of Texas. Adam served as assistant musical director for off broadway shows and consulted on broadway productions in the mid 2000's. He was the musical director for the 2010 synodical convention in Houston Texas which was met with great reviews. Adam now serves as the musical director for River Pointe Church is Richmond Texas which is a suburb of south Houston.
