Bidden or Not Bidden …

Bidden or not bidden God is present - Carl Jung

I have a plaque that hangs on a wall of my office that says, bidden or not bidden, God is present.  This quote by Carl Jung serves as a regular reminder for me of the eternal presence of God.  Whether or not we ask God to be present with us in our days – through the good and the bad, the easy and the difficult, the challenging and the life-giving -- God, by God’s gracious goodness is there.

As this semester begins, know that God is your constant companion on this journey.  God is with you as you go to class.  God is with you as you do your work.  God is with you as you live in the residence halls.  God is with you on your commute to and from VU.  God is with you as you venture into new things.  God is with you as you carry on in your duties and responsibilities.  God is with you as you figure out how to balance your schedule.  God is with you on the field, on the court, and on the stage.  God is with you as you discern what you are called to do and who you are called to be at this time in your life.

In the Old Testament book of Joshua, we find these words, “be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).  May these words go before you as a beacon to guide you, beside you as a companion to encourage you, and behind you as a shield to protect you.

God Bless Your Journey in this New Semester
