A big gift to the department

The Department of Chemistry would like to thank Warren and Kathy Kosman for their generous donation to the department of a new X-ray fluorescence instrument.  This instrument will be used both for research and teaching in the upper division labs offered during the year. The XRF was already used in a community outreach event to help citizens of East Chicago, IN determine the safety of their yards with respect to heavy metal contamination.  Multiple undergraduate research students have been using the XRF for their data analysis of new and archived data this semester as well.  Thanks!
