2009 Hangzhou Brochure I

COSTS

For VU students: Tuition, the general fee, and the housing fee for the Hangzhou Program are exactly the same as those on the VU campus for the 2010-2011 academic year.  Students also pay a study center fee of $1200 that is used exclusively for group trips in China, and are responsible for their own airfare, health insurance, meals, and incidental expenses.  Past program participants estimate $1200-1500 to be sufficient to cover meals, books, personal travel, souvenirs, and other miscellaneous expenses.

Since this is a Valparaiso University program, all financial aid granted at VU is applicable, except for work-study and other “on-campus” aid.  Students are advised to consult with their financial aid officer when considering the program, to see if the increased costs of study abroad (including airfare and the study center fee) change their eligibility for aid.

For students at Lutheran Colleges’ China Consortium member universities: Please see the study-abroad advisor on your campus for details regarding finances and application to the program.

For students-at-large: Please contact the VU Office of International Programs for details and an application.

DEADLINES AND DATES

The deadline for applying to the Fall 2010 Hangzhou Program is March 31, 2010.  All materials must be completed by this date, including the application, transcripts, advisor’s recommendation form, and an interview.  The program runs from early September (depending on the students’ flight schedule) until late December.  More information is available from the VU Office of International Programs or the study-abroad office on your campus.
