Professor Geiman joined the VU faculty in 1989 after studies in Cincinnati, Paris, St. Louis, Frankfurt am Main and Bochum. He has published translations from and studies on 20^th  century French and 18^th century German sources, and he teaches courses in environmental philosophy, Asian philosophy, and peace and social justice. His current research is on Buddhist ethics with a focus on the pāramitās.  Professor Geiman has been training in Zen Buddhism since 1996.  He will be ordained a Buddhist priest in Spring 2010.
