Lynn Grantz joined the VU faculty in 2003. She has an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and has taught English as a Second Languages courses in Russia, as a USIS English Teaching Fellow at the university level in Yemen and Kyrgyzstan, and in the Georgian Parliament at a UN-sponsored English language school.  Before returning to the US she worked for three years with the Soros Foundation as a teacher-trainer in the Caucuses, conducting teacher-training programs and workshops for Georgian and Azerbaijani English teachers. 

At VU she teaches courses in TESOL theory and methods and introductory linguistics, and she supervises the ESL certificate students in their teaching practicum.  Her primary interests are in Second Language Acquisition and language teacher development, with a focus on preparing pre-service teachers to use a Communicative approach to develop their students’ language ability.
