Ruth Doty graduated from Valparaiso University in 1970 with a B.A., earned her MS from Purdue University in 1971 and graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 2004.  She currently serves as Pastor for New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, PA. Prior to this, she served as the Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Co-Director for Lutheran Congregational Services.  Ruth is a founding member of both Safeplace, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, and Northwest Alabama Reading Aids, an adult literacy program.  She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the National Council on Family Relations and serves as a specialist in crisis response.  Her family has deep Valpo ties including husband Richard (’68), along with nieces and nephews.  In her free time, Ruth enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, reading, walking, swimming and traveling.
