David MorganDavid Morgan

Professor of Humanities and Art History
PhD, University of Chicago

Mr Morgan is a graduate of Concordia (Neb.) College, earned his master’s degree at the University of Arizona and his PhD at the University of Chicago. He is a leading scholar of visual culture, media, and religion. Morgan is the author of Icons of American Protestantism: The Art of Warner Sallman (1996), Visual Piety: A History and Theory of Popular Religious Images (1998), Protestants and Pictures: Religion, Visual Culture, and the Age of American Mass Production (1999), The Sacred Gaze (2005), and The Lure of Images (2007). He is the first occupant of the Phyllis and Richard Duesenberg Chair in Christianity and the Arts. He is co-editor of the journal Material Religion. He is currently editing a book entitled Keywords for Religion, Media, and Culture, which will appear in 2008.
