Upon graduation from Valparaiso University in 1969 with a degree in Chemistry, Dr. Kroenke
went on to earn a M.D. from Washington University School of Medicine, completing his residency
in internal medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center. A retired Colonel from the US Army
Medical Corps, Kroenke is Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and
Geriatrics at Indiana University, and a Research Scientist at the Regenstrief Institute. In addition
to authoring more than 230 peer-reviewed publications and receiving numerous teaching awards,
he is the recipient of sustained research funding from the National Institutes of Health and other
federal agencies, foundations, and industry.
Recent awards include Distinguished Alumnus Award, Valparaiso University (2001); Master,
American College of Physicians (2002); Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine Research Award
(2008); and most recently American Psychosomatic Society Donald Oken Fellowship (2009).
Dr. Kroenke and wife Judy are the proud parents of three children: Christopher, Rachel, and
Jonathan. In his spare time Dr. Kroenke enjoys reading, writing, traveling and horseback riding.
