Peter Schmalz graduated from Valparaiso University in 1969 with a B.S. in mechanical
engineering. He earned a M.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota in
1972. He has worked in a variety of research and development, and human resource and project
engineering management positions with the DuPont Company and was the engineering technology
manager for the DuPont Crop Protection business until his retirement in 2010. He also serves corporate roles on the Process
Control and Information Management Strategy Councils. He is active in a variety of leadership
positions in the local church and has served as the chair of the board of directors of the United
Methodist Campus Ministry at the University of Delaware. He also previously served on the
President’s Advisory Board of Valparaiso University.
