Jennifer Prough received her BA from Valparaiso University and her PhD from Duke University in cultural anthropology. Her teaching and research interests include the anthropology of media, Japanese studies, gender studies, and globalization. Besides her work in Christ College, she teaches seminars in the Chinese/Japanese Studies program and anthropology in the Department of Sociology. Prough's book Straight from the Heart: Gender, Intimacy, and the Production of Shojo Manga was published in January 2011 by University of Hawaii Press.
