![]() | Garry SparksVisiting Assistant Professor of Humanities and TheologyMueller Hall Room 124 BiographyGarry Sparks received his BA from Austin College in Philosophy and Spanish, MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, and MDiv and PhD in Theology from the University of Chicago where he also taught in the College and writing program. His research and teaching interests focus on an ethnographic and ethnohistorical understanding of theological production in the Americas, specifically among indigenous peoples. His areas include modern Christian theologies, history of religions, Native American religious movements, Hispano-Catholic missions, and the Highland Maya. He has most recently published “Fill in the Middle Ground: Intertextuality and Inter-Religious Dialogue in 16th-Century Guatemala” (Journal of Inter-Religious Dialogue, issue 5, part 2 (Winter 2011)), and currently teaches in the CC Freshman Program. |
