Hannah Johnson, from Highlands Ranch, Colo., was named the 2010 Christ College Distinguished Student by the Valparaiso University Alumni Association this May.
Johnson graduated with a BS summa cum laude and has maintained a 4.0 grade point average in all her work in both Christ College and her highly demanding pre-med curriculum – a rare achievement that reflects her wide-ranging intelligence, diligence, and exceptional work ethic.
She presented a version of her honors thesis “A Culture of Appearance, Happiness, and Rhinoplasty: Using Cosmetic Surgery to Understand Changes in the Definition of Health” written under the direction of Professor William Olmsted at the 2010 National Conference on Undergraduate Research.
Johnson’s involvement in the CC Student Steering Committee, as a student presenter for campus visit days and as a volunteer on the spring break Central America healthcare mission demonstrated her commitment to the university and community as a whole. She was also the administrative vice president and scholarship chair for Gamma Phi Beta, international social sorority, president and vice-president for physician shadowing, Premedical Arts Club, and secretary of Mortar Board, national senior honor society.
