Jianyun Meng
Jianyun Meng, Assistant Professor of Chinese Language and Literature, Foreign Language Department; the Director of Confucius Institute.
Professor Jianyun Meng, a native of China from the city of Nanjing, received his undergraduate degree in English from Nanjing Teacher’s University in 1985 and his M.A.L.S. degree with a concentration in education from Valparaiso University in 1993. Professor Meng has extensive experience in teaching both Chinese and English as foreign languages at universities in America and China. In addition, he has taught freshman core courses since 1995. Professor Meng also is an accomplished violinist and teaches violin lessons at VU. He is one of the chief organizers of the summer English program in Hangzhou, which has so far brought more than 20 VU students to teach English to more 1,000 Chinese students aged 8-to-20 over the past two years. Professor Meng also has successfully organized the American International Youth Orchestra's three-city tour of China in 2001.
