George Pati , Assistant Professor of Theology

George Pati's areas of specialization include History of Religions of South Asia, Malayalam Language and Literature, and South Indian History. He also has professional affiliations withthe American Academy of Religion, the Association for Asian Studies, the American Oriental Society, the Modern Language Association, and the Kerala Council for Historical Research

His research focuses on the religious aspects in Malayalam poetry and poetic imagination. His dissertation examined the poems of Kumaran Asan (1873-1924) from devotional (bhakti) perspective. His research interests lie in examining products of devotional religious tradition in the colonial period of Kerala, south India. His current research project examines the devotional aspects in the performative traditions of Kerala, south India.
