Faculty

Professor Jianyun Meng, a native of China from the city of Nanjing,

received his undergraduate degree in English from Nanjing Teacher’s

University in 1985 and his M.A.L.S. degree with a concentration in

education from Valparaiso University in 1993. Professor Meng has

extensive experience in teaching both Chinese and English as foreign

languages at universities in America and China.  He has been

teaching Chinese language and courses about Chinese culture and arts

for VU since 1995.  Professor Meng is also an accomplished musician

and offers lessons on Chinese instruments.  He is one of the chief

organizers of the summer English program in Hangzhou, which has so

far brought more than 20 VU students to teach English in China over

the past two years.  Professor Meng also has successfully organized

the American International Youth Orchestra's three-city tour of

China in 2001, and the 2002 concert tour of the prestigious Jiangnan

Silk & Bamboo Music Ensemble of China to Valparaiso University and
